Cannabis (Marijuana) and Pregnancy

The use of marijuana and other cannabis products is not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Smoking or consuming edibles and beverages containing cannabis during pregnancy may result in low birth weight, premature birth, or other developmental problems. When marijuana is smoked or consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, chemicals from the drug enter the baby’s body and can harm their development.

Second-hand marijuana smoke can also be harmful to babies. Avoid inhaling any marijuana smoke, including from other people, during and following pregnancy.
