The Douglas County Emergency Telephone Service Authority will be testing the CodeRED emergency notification system on Aug. 11, 2021, at 9 a.m.
The purpose of this test is to validate the telephone numbers in the Douglas County emergency notification database. There is no need for action if you receive the call.
The Caller ID will read 866-419-5000 and the message will say “This is a test of Douglas County CodeRED Emergency Notification System. No action is required, this is only a test. Had this been an actual emergency you would have received important information from your local public safety officials. Again, this is only a test.”
This testing process will increase the efficiency of the system and the speed at which notifications will be delivered when the system is used during an actual emergency.

Please log in and update your contact information before this test if:
- You have an unlisted number.
- You changed your address.
- You moved.
- You switched to a cell phone or VOIP as your primary number.
The CodeRED notification system assists in providing registered citizens with necessary public safety information pertaining to their registered location via telephone calls, text messages, and/or emails.

FEMA, FCC Conducting Tests of Public Alert and Warning Infrastructures
FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission will test the nation’s public alert and warning systems at 12:20 p.m. MDT on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021.
FEMA regularly tests the public alert and warning systems to assess the operational readiness of the supporting infrastructure. The tests help identify any needed technical and administrative improvements to warning the public about emergencies.
This week’s testing will be the sixth test of the nationwide public alert and warning systems and has been planned since June 2020. The test’s purpose is to assess the effectiveness of the Emergency Alert System to receive and convey a national message via radio and television, and of the Wireless Emergency Alerts infrastructure to deliver a test message to mobile phones.
