Twenty-three candidates stepped forward in response to the Board of County Commissioners’ Feb. 4 call for applications to fill the vacant Douglas County seat on the Tri-County Health Department Board of Health.  The top four will be interviewed individually today, March 3, and tomorrow, March 4, with the finalist appointed during the Commissioners’ Business Meeting on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at 1:30 p.m., in time to represent Douglas County on the March 11 Board of Health meeting.

“Our gratitude for the public response to this opening is beyond measure,” said Board Chair and County Commissioner Lora Thomas on behalf of the full Board. “The magnitude of talent in Douglas County is remarkable and desire for public service commendable.”

In addition to the county residency requirement, applicants for this vacant position are medical doctors or have expertise in public health; environmental health; medicine/nursing; health promotion/health education; behavioral health; education; community advocacy; and public policy.

The nine members of the Tri-County Board of Health Board – three each from Adams, Arapahoe, and Douglas Counties – are appointed by their respective County Commissioners and serve five-year terms.
