Greenland Open Space, Trail and Dog Park

Greenland Open Space and Trail is a fun loop that winds around the property, and the views make the sky seem endless.  Don’t forget to leash your dog on the Greenland Trail.  The Colorado Front Range Trail is a part of this trail system that connects the Town of Larkspur and Palmer Lake.

CLOSURE NOTICE:

Monday, Sept. 23, and Tuesday, Sept. 24, Greenland Dog Park will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to allow CORE Electric Cooperative and its contractor, Ward Electric, to install anti-galloping equipment on existing overhead transmission lines. Galloping is the bouncing or bucking movement of overhead lines and can cause several problems, such as temporary power interruptions, downed lines and the collision of lines. This equipment will help prevent these dangers as well as wildfires that can be caused by downed lines and the collision of lines in our dry climate.

The dog park will be open for use in the morning, before 9 a.m., and in the evening, after 4 p.m. The closure timeframe was selected knowing that most users visit the park early in the morning and later in the evening.

An additional set of closures will be required in the coming weeks. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

If you have questions about these closures, please contact The Douglas County Open Space office at 303-660-7495 or openspace@douglas.co.us.

Greenland Dog Park located at 1532 Noe Road in Larkspur, is a wide-open wonderland set between mountains and buttes.  The long 11-mile plus trail system is perfect for training, with its gentle ups and downs with fun sweeping turns.  During the summer, visitors share the trails with cattle!  Don’t forget to keep your dog on a leash on the Greenland trail.
