Eligible nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that serve Douglas County residents are invited to apply for COVID-19 impacts reimbursement grants, funded through the County’s share of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, distributed through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).

Community-based charitable organizations are encouraged to review eligibility details for the Douglas County CARES Nonprofit Grant Program and submit an application by Sept. 30, 2020 for reimbursement of eligible incurred and estimated expenses from March 1, 2020, through Dec. 30, 2020.

Eligible organizations may apply for reimbursement of expenses incurred on behalf of County residents from March 1 through Dec. 30, 2020, due to COVID-19, that were not budgeted as of March 27, 2020 and show an increase in service demand over 2019.

“The impacts of COVID-19 were felt almost immediately by many individuals and families in our community served by our nonprofit agencies,” said Roger Partridge, County Commissioner and Board Chair. “This grant program has been established to reimburse eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits with a portion of the expenses they incurred, as they served the most vulnerable among us,” Partridge said.

“Douglas County’s nonprofit, charitable organizations were magnificent in their nimble and heartfelt response to our citizens facing challenges as a result of COVID-19, providing at-risk individuals and families with a needed safety net during these difficult times,” said County Commissioner and Board Vice Chair Lora Thomas. “We encourage those eligible for these funds to apply immediately.”

“In these uncertain times, our charitable nonprofit organizations have been working tirelessly for six months to help our citizens most impacted by COVID-19. Our hope is that with this CARES Act funding, some of their coronavirus-related costs can be reimbursed,” said County Commissioner Abe Laydon.
