Project Update

Traffic Control for Phase 2 of the project is still in place and a temporary span wire signal is operational to direct traffic during construction.

October 19 – November 2:

  • Major construction activities over the next two weeks consist of concrete paving including sidewalk, median cover, curb, and gutter, storm sewer inlet construction, and traffic signal construction.
  • Traffic control is anticipated to be changed to Phase 3 in late October. Current traffic control measures will be in place for drivers and pedestrians to follow. See detour map
  • Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some work on the weekends.

The project is anticipated to be completed by December 8, 2022.

The Havana Street & Meridian Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project will replace the existing intersection pavement in addition to geometric improvements including additional turn lanes for high volume movements. This project includes replacing the traffic signals at the intersections of Havana Street/Meridian Boulevard and Maroon Circle/Meridian Boulevard. Additionally, this project includes interconnecting five Douglas County traffic signals and completing redundant fiber-optic connections to the existing ITS network to improve resiliency. Douglas County has already completed construction contracts to replace the concrete pavement on Meridian Boulevard both east of Maroon Circle and west of Havana Street. Meridian Metropolitan District is a major stakeholder in the project.
