Project Update

Both new traffic signals are fully operational, and the intersections are now open to traffic.

May 22 – 31, 2023:

  • Construction activities over the next two weeks consist of fiber optic cable testing, minor pavement repairs, and electrical service installation.
  • The remaining construction activities may require localized lane closures on an as-needed basis.
  • Limited Construction activities will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some work on the weekends.

The project is anticipated to be substantially completed in May 2023.

Description

The Havana Street & Meridian Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project will replace the existing intersection pavement in addition to geometric improvements including additional turn lanes for high volume movements. This project includes replacing the traffic signals at the intersections of Havana Street/Meridian Boulevard and Maroon Circle/Meridian Boulevard. Additionally, this project includes interconnecting five Douglas County traffic signals and completing redundant fiber-optic connections to the existing ITS network to improve resiliency. Douglas County has already completed construction contracts to replace the concrete pavement on Meridian Boulevard both east of Maroon Circle and west of Havana Street. Meridian Metropolitan District is a major stakeholder in the project.
