Protect the life you’ve built in Douglas County. September is National Preparedness Month

What if you had to urgently leave your home due to flood or fire? Are you prepared for winter weather in your car and in your home?

During National Preparedness Month in September, and throughout the year, Douglas County wants to be sure you have the tools you need to be prepared for any emergency.

First, are you signed up for CodeRED emergency notifications? Register every cell phone number in your family online.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) annual disaster readiness campaign promotes family and community disaster planning and awareness now and throughout the year. This year, the national theme is “A Lasting Legacy.” Protect what you’ve built in Douglas County.

Douglas County and our neighboring communities are regularly affected by events such as severe winter weatherwildfires and floods. A few simple steps and shared responsibility for readiness can make a big difference.

It is important to have a plan and an emergency kit. Taking the following steps can create a more orderly and rapid response during a disaster:
