Grant awards bolster local safety-net programs

County’s portion of the Philip S. Miller Trust funding benefits 23 area programs

Posted on July 14, 2021 2021Health and Human Services

The Board of Douglas County Commissioners has selected 23 nonprofit programs from 34 applications to share $185,000 in grant funds from the County’s 2021 portion of the Philip S. Miller Trust.

Together these vital programs cast a wide safety net throughout the County by delivering programs and services such as suicide prevention, medical assistance, mental health, emergency assistance and support for seniors and school-age children.

Miller Grant recipients for 2021 include many continuing grantees such as Help and Hope Center, Doctors Care, SECOR Cares, Bridge of Hope and Cherry Hills Community Church, as well as four first-time awardees Castle Country Assisted Living, Colorado Lions Camp, Savio House and Nueva Vida. View the complete list of 2021 recipients.

Recipients of these awards enhance the quality of life for vulnerable and at-risk members of our community and many provide services not available through other means.

The Board of County Commissioners is honored to distribute these awards as a continuation of the legacy of philanthropy established by Philip S. Miller and his wife Jessie, who dedicated so much of their lives to helping others in Douglas County and continue to do so through this generous and thoughtful gift.
