Douglas County residential tenants facing utility shut-offs encouraged to apply.

Posted on May 25, 2021 2021Health and Human Services

Are you a renter facing a utility shut-off because you are behind on payments due to COVID-19 financial impacts? If so, you may be eligible for assistance through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

Funds are available to assist qualified Douglas County residents who rent a home or apartment with arrears or future utility payments and rent through 2021. Payments will be made directly to utility providers, landlords or property managers using funds received from the U.S. Treasury Department through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021.

If you are a residential tenant in Douglas County, Colorado and are behind on your utility payments or rent please review eligibility information to see if you qualify and apply.

The County has partnered with five local nonprofits, Catholic Charities, Douglas County Housing Partnership, Help & Hope Center, Manna Resource Center and The Rock Church to process applications and distribute payments. Qualified renters may click here to apply for assistance through one of the community partners.

If you are a utility provider, landlord or property manager with customers you believe may benefit from this program please visit douglas.co.us/rent-assistance/landlord-resources for resources to help you share this program with those who may be struggling.

For more details, visit douglas.co.us/rent-assistance.

Please note this program is to assist residential tenants only with rent and associated utility obligations and may not be used by homeowners for mortgage payments or utility costs. Please visit the Douglas County Housing Partnership for mortgage assistance.
