Small businesses countywide with physical locations in the County and 100 or fewer employees may be eligible for COVID-19 impacts reimbursement grants of up to $10,000, funded through the County’s share of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, distributed through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).
Business owners are invited to review eligibility details for the Douglas County CARES Small Business Grant Program. Applications for the first of five, $500,000 grant cycles will be accepted through Dec. 30, 2020. Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying businesses for eligible expenses, based on the order in which the applications were received.
Eligible businesses may apply for reimbursement of up to $10,000 spent on supplies, such as personal protective equipment (PPE), touchless payment systems, or structural, physical improvements required to remain open during under COVID-19 public health orders.
“The aim of this grant program is to reimburse the County’s eligible small businesses with a portion of the expenses they incurred, as they adjusted and adapted to COVID-19 public health restrictions, and continued to serve our community,” said Roger Partridge, County Commissioner and Board Chair.
“Our small businesses were very responsive and creative in solving the COVID-19 challenges they faced. This funding will allow them to pay themselves back for the innovative solutions they created while meeting the guidelines of the public health department necessary to reopen their businesses,” said Commissioner and Board Vice Chair Lora Thomas.
“We realized that getting Douglas County businesses open safely – through our successful variances to public health orders – was the best way to serve them and reopen our economy. Going forward, our hope is that with the CARES Act funding, their investment in necessary modifications can be reimbursed,” said Commissioner Abe Laydon.
