Merlin Klotz was elected to his first term as Douglas County Clerk and Recorder in November 2014 and his second term in 2018.
Merlin brings a diverse background to the Office. A CPA with more than 40 years of experience in public accounting and private industry, he has been involved in more than a dozen start-up companies and mergers, built hundreds of budgets and prepared more than 100 business plans throughout his career. He also has a history of designing and installing software and has designed multi-state payroll systems.
In addition to serving as the County’s Clerk and Recorder, Merlin is also a director on the Parker Water and Sanitation District Board of Directors. He has served on HOA boards, helped to run political campaigns for others, and was a primary organizer for the first two attempts to form the City of Centennial, personally posting the bonds to see the Arapahoe County community become a City.
Merlin has a bachelor’s degree in business administration in accounting from the University of Iowa and did graduate work in finance at Iowa as well.
