Commissioners make interim appointment of Kevin Bracken to fill Tri-County Board of Health vacancy

On Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, during a posted meeting, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners appointed Kevin Bracken in an interim capacity to the Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) Board of Health, effective immediately. Bracken currently serves as the chair of the Douglas County Public Health Advisory Committee and as such will provide the thread of continuity represented by the expertise on this Committee.

Bracken will fill the vacancy created by the Aug. 25, 2021 resignation of Douglas County’s former TCHD Board of Health appointee Zach Nannestad. Mr. Nannestad resigned after recognizing an ongoing conflict of interest as an employee of the Douglas County School District (DCSD) which could prevent him from voting on future TCHD matters which may involve DCSD.

The immediate appointment of Bracken will ensure Douglas County is fully represented at the TCHD Board of Health meeting on Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. Bracken’s appointment will be ratified at a future Board of Douglas County Commissioners’ Business Meeting.
